Happy New Year 2013 – Return of the Caption Competition

New Year 2012

Caption Competition for New Year 2013

Hello to all you lovelies, have you missed me? I’ve been away tending to my little baby and as a result the website has been somewhat neglected. Now that our little darling is starting to settle into a routine, I am hoping to have some more time to devote to the site and on bringing more vintage loveliness to you.

So, 2013 – what does it mean to you? Have you made resolutions, are you managing to stick to them or have you broken them already? I hope that this year brings you only good things, including health, happiness and piles of style.

Here is the first of the caption competitions for this year – what does this image say to you? Share your wonderful imaginative caption with us, keeping it clean of course – and the one picked out as best (by an independent judge), will win a lovely handpicked vintage prize. Hurrah!

Life Events and Possibility of Some Delays to Service

As a sole trader, events tend to have an impact on all aspects of your life.

This year has been unexpected in that my husband and I found out we were pregnant (on New Years Eve no  less) – a surprise all round!

Whilst I have been steadily working away at this website and business, things have not always gone as originally planned.  I have however managed to get lots of great goodies listed up here and I hope you have fun browsing through…

The baby is due at the end of August, so whilst I will do my best with regards to sales and questions, there may be some time in the run up to the birth, and for a period of time afterwards, where there are delays in service. Please accept my apologies in advance and be reassured that I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

All the best and I hope to have normal service resuming as soon as possible…

Free Gift with Every Purchase to Celebrate the Queens Jubilee!

So you may or may not be into the monarchy. Let’s not get into a debate about that!
However, either way it’s time to celebrate the fact that we have a long four day holiday weekend coming up. Hoorah!
Let’s hope the sunshine continues – according to the BBC website it looks fairly hopeful at least in terms of the temperature.

To celebrate, here at Otis Vintage, we are offering a free gift with every purchase made between now and the end of next week. That’s Friday 8th June 2012….Each free item will be selected by my fair hand – if you have a preference for the gift to be for a male or female, please leave me a note when you make your purchase.

So here’s hoping to a wonderful weekend whatever your plans. Be safe, be happy and share the vintage love xxx

Caption Competition Number 11 – Monkeys Tea Party?

I don’t know about you, but I am a bit flummoxed with the weather at the moment. One minute I’m wearing a summer dress, the next I’m digging my knitwear back out. The hose-pipe ban is being introduced and then it starts pouring down.

When we were small and the sun came out, it rained and hailed and resulted in a rainbow – all within the space of ten minutes – we called it a ‘Monkeys Tea Party’. Do you remember any funny terms for the random weather?

So what to do except keep your winter and summer wardrobes to hand and be ready to wrap up snug and warm, yet throw those layers off when the sun emerges from behind those grey clouds. And keep smiling!

I’ve picked a knitting pattern which conjures up images of the sunshine ahead….Good luck, and remember, the winner will receive a lovely hand-picked vintage prize!

Caption Competition Number 10 – Spring Is Coming

Okay so it’s been some time since my last post – apologies but I seem to have been caught up in things. Well the winner has been chosen…and its got to be Dave Digger Barnes. Well done for your multiple entries. I’ll be in touch shortly regarding getting you your prize!

New competition will be posted up shortly, so watch this space..xxx
———————————————————————————————————————————-

Okay so the sun has started showing its face and everything seems so much better! Let’s not be too hasty though, don’t pack your winter warmers away yet as I am sure we still have a few chilly days in store for us.

But we can start thinking about the summer ahead: for those of you who have been dieting since January 1st, well done and keep up the good work. Apparently it helps to visualise yourself where you want to be at for your end goal – so if it’s fitting in that slinky swim-suit on your summer holidays, then just picture yourself in it looking gorgeous!

The image I have selected for Caption Competition Number 10 links in with the great outdoors and being wrapped up to enjoy it properly. I am sure you can think of some funny one-liners to go with this beauty. Good luck, and rememer, the winner will receive a lovely hand-picked vintage prize!

Caption Competition Number 9 – 2012 is Fully Upon Us

Well done to everyone who entered the 8th Caption Competition. Our independent adjudicator chose Denise as the winner this time, well done Denise!
So we’ve had Christmas, danced off some of the excesses at our New Year parties and spent up on the January Sales. February is now well and truly upon us and we can all breathe a sigh of relief now that we’ve been paid again.  Did you make any new year resolutions? If so, are you still keeping to them or did they fly out of the window?
At Otis Vintage we’ve been having a busy time with news that our family is due to expand – a little baby is on the way. This is why things have been slow on the website – our apologies and we hope to get things back up to speed now.
The knitting pattern which I’ve chosen for this competition links into this theme…with a very cute image of a baby.  Are you ready to give us a suitable caption? Then let’s see what you’ve got…And don’t forget, the winning caption means a special hand selected vintage prize!

Caption Competition Number 8 – Christmas Special

Well done to everyone who entered the 7th Caption Competition. The winner was the lovely Trish – for the second time running. I think she need some good rivalry to make sure she doesn’t win again!
Well it’s only a few days now until Christmas. I hope you are all prepared: christmas presents bought and wrapped, decorations up and the fridge stocked with food ready for a good feed.  It’s time now to enjoy yourself, spend time with friends and family and experience the true meaning of Christmas: appreciating what you have and having time to spend with those you love.  So merry Christmas to you, I hope it goes well and you get to rest before the second part of the party season – New Years Eve – whatever you are up to, be safe, have fun and drink lots of water!
The knitting pattern which I’ve chosen for this competition is fairly topical – do you think this couple of well turned out men are reading their Christmas cards perhaps?  Have a look, see what you think, and give us what you’ve got!

Check out my winter accessories here on the website – I’ve got some lovely winter hats in a range of colours – from bright primaries to the classic and more versatile blacks and creams.  I’ve also got some woolly scarves – for both ladies and gents.  Make sure to team these up with some beautiful shoes and bags and get yourself into the festive season.

Caption Competition Number 7 – Pearls and Twinsets (CLOSED)

Well done to everyone who entered the 6th Caption Competition – you’re really getting into this now. The winner was the lovely Trish, can we give her a round of applause please….and thank you to the Tipper Family who acted as independent judges and had to make this difficult decision.
With winter coming, we need to remember to wrap up warm. But layering up need not mean dressing drably…and these three ladies certainly demonstrate that for us with their bright colours and nicely tailored clothing.  What I also like about this pattern is that these ladies are maybe just a little bit older..ahem…but not pressured by the celebrity magazines to look ‘ten years younger’…they’ve aged with grace and style.  A lesson for us perhaps?
So come on then, show us what you’ve got and give us your captions….and don’t forget, the one judged the best will win a lovely, hand selected, vintage prize!  Ooooh…..I bet you can’t wait!
